The 'Lône' is a 100% Viognier wine crafted from five distinct terroirs within the appellation—Jeanraude, Verlieu, Peyrolland, Sainte Agathe, and Bassenon. These vineyards, situated on steep, south-to-southeast-facing slopes overlooking the Rhône, are planted densely with 9,000 vines per hectare, and all vineyard work is done manually. The granite-based, sandy soils contribute to the wine's unique character. Grapes are harvested and vinified separately, with a slow, temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation followed by complete malolactic fermentation.

The wine is aged for 10 months in 225-liter barrels, with 10% new oak used. It has an alcohol content of 13% and presents a refined nose dominated by citrus aromas. On the palate, it offers sapidity and balance, creating a fresh, approachable, and digestible wine that exemplifies the elegance of the Condrieu appellation.

  • Julien Pilon's journey into winemaking was shaped early on through formative experiences such as picking and bottling wild grapes in school, family meals centered around wine, and summer work in vineyards. His fascination with the energy, innovation, and quality of Rhône Valley winemakers solidified his passion. After earning a BTS in Viticulture and Oenology, Pilon trained under esteemed winemakers like Yves Cuilleron and gained diverse experience at Mas Amiel in Roussillon and Terra Remota in Spain. Returning to the Rhône Valley, he collaborated with Pierre Gaillard, whose wife had inspired Pilon's initial interest in winemaking.

In 2010, Pilon produced his first vintage in his parents' garage, emphasizing wines that reflect their terroir with both finesse and concentration. Challenges in acquiring vineyards led him to establish a négociant business, sourcing grapes from northern Rhône appellations. By 2011, he secured vines with the help of Patrice Porte in Condrieu, enabling him to expand his operation. Over the next decade, Pilon built a dedicated team and, in 2020, inaugurated a new winery in Chavanay, cementing his commitment to crafting wines that honor their land and identity.

  • Condrieu, located in France's northern Rhône Valley, is a prestigious appellation renowned for its aromatic white wines exclusively made from Viognier. This small region, spanning just over 200 hectares, is defined by its steep, terraced vineyards perched along the Rhône River, with granite-rich soils that enhance the grape's expressive character.

Wines from Condrieu are celebrated for their lush texture and complex aromas of stone fruit, citrus, floral notes, and hints of honey and spice. Despite their richness, they retain a vibrant acidity that adds balance. Known for limited production and high quality, Condrieu wines are cherished globally, offering a distinctive and elegant expression of Viognier.
